January Year: 2009
Merner Merner Friday List
30th Jan 2009 ·I didn't know that Morph was created by Aardman (the team behind Wallace and Gromit), and I also didn't know that Morph is celebrating his 30th Birthday.
Got to be the oddest thing I have ever seen, Roy Orbison Cling Film. Scroll down and read some of the stories (after reading about the site of cause), makes my dreams seem quite normal.
Nice tats - I've gone off the idea of having a tattoo.
Quite NSFW this one (although images have been blurred out), but these are real eye openers, Sexual Anaomalies (large willies, giant testees and massive norks).
Nice article over at wired.com about a Tanning Drug that '...turn[s] pasty skin caramel for up to two months.''' As well as moving the subject closer to the screen and beefing them up even more it would seem :) I really can't wait to see the after effects stories of this drug, because you can't test it on everyone. Not blaming the drug, just amuses me that some people are so desperate to get a tan nowadays, no matter what you do, fake tan or artificial means ALWAYS look artificial in my view).
Ah now, Ron, I'm Not suggest you was pushed what I'm suggesting is that you fu*k3d off because your guilty as hell and as the controller of a company new full well what was going on you lying **** ***e.
You either love it or hate it, but 2001 A Space Odyssey is without a doubt an 'interesting' film. Most people don't last the distance, so for those that want to see it but can't be bothered here is the best bit with a bit of an explanation run up to it.
"Astronauts, ship, ships computer all going to investigate something in space. Ship is tawn between mission and only telling certain things to the astronauts (the ship is asked to lie). Ship can't cope and goes nuts".
If this doesn't creep you out then I don't know what will.
Well I'm off to look up Fatuous, get the Baby Shaved , fix my Computer and then start saving the 20 quid a year music and video tax* it is reported we might have to pay here in the UK.

[CLICK] Tuesday list
27th Jan 2009 ·I'd like to say YES YES YES, but I'm not sure how it will turn out yet, Red Dwarf to return for special.
I see that a law is to be passed that will require Camera Phones to make a 'Click' each time a photograph is taken. Other than the fact that it will be hacked out if people want to it's just stupid. Far too much emphasis is being put on what people can and can't take photos of, and really who cares. Anyway, I've started to make the clicking noise myself when I take a photo to be ahead of the curve.
[CLICK]Well, I for one think the rear wing looks a bit, well, Pointless and how can this guy say they look nice, F1 cars have never looked 'nice'.
[CLICK]Oh my yes. Sorry if your not a fan, you might not get this.
[CLICK]Cake Fail.
[CLICK]I like good English and I cannot lie.
[CLICK]Now if this doesn't make you smile then you have a heart of stone.
Ignore the video and scroll down to the words, I get the impression Mr Groening is quite hot on copyright on youtube so this is the best you will get, but you don't need a video because you'll all be singing along, won't you?
Lyle Lanley: Well, sir, there's nothing on earth
Like a genuine,
Bona fide,
Electrified,
Six-car
Monorail!
What'd I say?
Monorail!
What's it called?
Monorail!
That's right! Monorail!
I hear those things are awfully loud...
It glides as softly as a cloud.
Is there a chance the track could bend?
Not on your life, my Hindu friend.
What about us brain-dead slobs?
You'll be given cushy jobs.
Were you sent here by the devil?
No, good sir, I'm on the level.
The ring came off my pudding can.
Take my pen knife, my good man.
I swear it's Springfield's only choice...
Throw up your hands and raise your voice!
Monorail!
What's it called?
Monorail!
Once again...
Monorail!
But Main Street's still all cracked and broken...
Sorry, Mom, the mob has spoken!
Monorail!
Monorail!
Monorail!
Monorail!
Homer: Mono... D'oh!
Happy Downloads
24th Jan 2009 ·It is odd, but I had not created a screensaver until last year (2008) in November, and I decided (as the time seemed right) to create a snow screensaver, Let It Snow.
Since then I have created a few others and progressed my knowledge of the mac Xcode environment to create What Happened To (a retro screensaver).
Now out of those two, the Snow screen saver proved to be very popular, mainly because it was the right time (a fluke), however the What Happened To screensaver has brought more traffic to the site, odd.
So far, downloads that I can easily cover for the early part of January 2009 are that the Let it Snow screensaver has 80013 and What Happened To has 3904.
Those direct downloads for January 2009 alone have given more people wanting to look at the www.opanoid.com site due to the What Happened To screensaver than the Let It Snow saver. Maybe it is a retro thing, I'm not sure, but it just goes to show.
Things are a fluke, and also that the apple.com site gets a hell of a lot of traffic.
I've been so busy in doing things that I have not reflected on the fact that the Let It Snow screensaver was at a certain point more popular on the apple site than firefox and the Safari browser.
This I am proud of, and thank Apple and all the downloaders, this has given me a great boost to create more screensavers in the future. Hopefully more impressive ones.
I thank you all.
Parking Ticket Friday list
23rd Jan 2009 ·I picked up a couple of repaired Xbox360's Wednesday from a repair guy (don't ask), and in the town centre where this is a new layout has been created with one way systems and for buses, so I park as near as I can.
On returning back to my car I noticed a Ticket Attendant walking around my car, little did I know that the car park was a pay and display one (it hadn't been before).
Damm.
Up I trot, open the boot and as quick as possible (without eye contact) try to get items in the car, close the boot and get in my seat to drive away (I noticed no ticket had as yet been put on the window screen).
"Don't worry" - Comes a voice - "I'll not write you up now your back, you made it just in time".
Result.
Chuffed to bits am I as I leave the car park head held high thinking things might actually be turning around for me that I turn the wrong way and get flashed by a Police car coming the other way, I didn't realise you couldn't turn left anymore.
Luckily the police car just passed me waving franticly (with the 'dick head' sign if I'm not mistaken)
Another Result, although I did feel a bit of a knob that time.
So lets get to it.
This is great, although I can feel my blood pressure boiling at the thought of having to get them all correctly positioned for fear of missing:
I thought I had done well with losing weight, but this guy is just amazing More pictures as the article doesn't have many, warning lots of flappy wibbly wobbly left over hanging skin in the pictures (if that doesn't make you look I don't know what will).
b3ta.com always has some good stuff, but this and this are just superb.
How I fell upon this I'm not sure, but it's got Movie written all over it, D B Cooper.
Looks like all those articles about the 'wonderful' Windows 7 are a bit premature, whilst Windows 7 is far better than Vista in normal run of the mill tasks, as soon as you throw something at it to work on it falls well behind even XP.
For god sake people this is a Beta, i'm not even expecting the OS X killing task bar to look the same (and I hope it does stay, it's so cool).
Ah yes, how I've missed it :)
Drowning Tuesday List
20th Jan 2009 ·So after being drugged I awoke in what can only be described as jelly, I say that but I couldn't actually see it because I couldn't see, not blindfolded just blind, I instantly started to cough and choke, my mouth and throat were full of the stuff.
A hand grabs mine, then a thought enters my body (i'd say enters my head but I 'felt' this thought everywhere)
"Calm Down, breath as normal else you'll choke to death".
I tried, but it was just so un-natural.
"Listen, you just pretend everything is normal and breath, the liquid in your mouth and lungs is breathable liquid to keep you alive while your submerged".
Finally I got control of it, but in the back of my mind was the thought that I was submerged.
Still blinded all I could hear where cracking noises.
"Unfortunately that's your buddies....they fell further over into the vat and the other creatures have started to eat them, luckily you fell near the side where we reside, we are a peaceful and reasonably intelligent species much like yourselves.
At this point I woke up, bollocks. I had a migraine last night and ran 6 kilometers just before (and was very dehydrated) that coupled with being tired and not drinking (alcohol) causes my head to go a bit nuts when I go to bed.
I'll never have that dream again, they are always different. I also couldn't draw this one down as I was blind in the dream and just saw blackness. Shame really, it sounded quite interesting.
As you've probably guessed my sub-consious is a bit nuts.
Anyhoo, a few links, heavy metal flowchart | Racist Words
This is great, Im not embedding this as you need to watch it on youtube and select the high quality option (under the video on the right). The first one had me going ouch quite a bit. Motorcyle Crashes.
A poor animal gets hit at one point as well, which is a shame, but it's just worth watching this for some of the other accidents which are just so so nuts.
However motorbikes are still totally so safe its ok to have one, isn't it darling :)
Been thinking about the cloud for a while, might just wait a little big longer to see if GDrive from Google is better (ie free free free). Microsoft seem to have SkyDrive and the Mac has MobileMe (I might sign up for this as a trial).
Formula 1 Predictions Game
I've decided to start up a formula 1 predictions game, and this time before the season starts (unlike last time). Free to use, however if you want to be in with a chance to win something (cash probably) you can register for what I currently think will be 2.00 quid. I'll keep you posted and hope to have a working model up and running by next week (honest).
Coldplay, this is just fantastic:
Madonna New Album Cover?
19th Jan 2009 ·It will no doubt have lots of arty types talking about it, but all you can say is that for a woman over 50 she looks damm good rather than that video in which her legs look like footballers, Hung Up. Just looks nasty.

Fill The Void List
Six days ago ·Sooooo busy, but thought i would post what has been gathered this past two weeks, enjoy:
Cee Lo Green - F You (the original isn't bad either
Strange Photo
Patience (stop motion)
I'm patient, but I don't think I could do this for a living.
Do you do this?
Still not using it
Jumpin'
Lucky F'ers.
Extended Version of Prince of Bel Air
It's just not right. (lyrics follow)
And the lyrics:
Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I liked to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air
In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'
I begged and pleaded with her day after day
But she packed my suite case and send me on my way
She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket.
I put my walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'.
First class, yo this is bad
Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass.
Is this what the people of Bel-Air Living like?
Hmmmmm this might be alright.
I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I can say this cab is rare
But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'
I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8
And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later'
I looked at my kingdom
I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

20th Aug 2010 ·Afternoon all, Jesus tees off first hitting his ball straight into the water hazard. He simply walks across the water and hits his ball just short of the green. When Moses tees off, he hits his ball into the same water hazard. So, he parts the water and puts his golf ball just shy of the hole. As the old man tees off he hits his ball with tremendous power, but hooks it badly. It bounces off a tree and hits the caddy shack. It then rolls down a path to a pond where a frog eats the ball and swims to the other side of the pond. Suddenly an eagle swoops down and grabs the frog and flies off. As the eagle is flying over the green the frog drops the ball. The ball drops directly into the hole for a hole in one. Moses turns to Jesus and says "I hate playing golf with your Dad."

Almost a quarter of drivers think it is acceptable to speed if they think the limit is too low - Tick that's me.
Drivers still distinguish between 'ordinary, safe speeding drivers' and 'dangerous speeding drivers' - Tick That's me too.
Motorists caught racing through motorway roadworks ended up being hit by more than £5m worth of speeding tickets last year. - Not been done on this, thankfully.
Of all the speeding offences 90+% are fixed penally notices. - Tick, got done by this.
Thought of the week.
Apple is very closed, they are right, everyone else is wrong (suppliers). However it was noted on a website that Apple have sent an update out for OS X that fixes graphics issues.
This is pretty much due in part to Valve releasing games for the Mac. It's further rumoured that the uptake of the games is astronomical.
Nothing Like a shit load of money to make Apple stand to attention.
