December Year: 2009
New Year 2009 List Thursday
31st Dec 2009 ·Well Christmas is over, just New Year night to get through (not a big event usually for us, quiet night in to be honest). Christmas however took on a new meaning this year as our 3 and 5 year old learned of the movie Ghostbusters.
And before you start to say it's not suitable it was a version shown on terrestrial TV that was so edited it was almost a U rating.
Anyway, after watching it twice a day for 5 days running you start to merge with the film.
So it comes as great pleasure to have read the folowing quote from Harold Ramis
"Something's going to happen,....Dan did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We'll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future ... plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011"
Oh yes, thankfully.
[Rumours abound in the above quote about the Christopher Lloyd reference, I personally think it has something to do with Time Travel, obvious but I still think it does]
Another think this christmas has brought is the new Film Sherlock Holmes, myself and wifey went to see if just after Christmas and I have to say it really was excellent.
To quote the wife "Guy Ritchie really does do his best work when he's not involved with Madonna", can't argue with that.
So on to this New Years Eve 2009 List:
Frankly I don't think enough of this is going on, High Five's.
Noticed this (sorry).
I hate having to register for websites that I just want to read one article or do one thing. It's a pain as I always end up getting a load of rubbish emails. Fear not, Bug me Not is to the rescue.
Whilst at it this may be of use, although US based I must admit many of the items I now purchase online are from US websites so I'll give this a try before I buy. Retail me not.
Just salivating at finding this one, Wordnik (galactagogue, timberdoodle, wolframite I'm going to have to tear myself away from this site).
Ikea Job Interview
Four Paw Drive (This really needs some screeching revving sound track).
Psilon - And now you know.
This just tickled me mainly because it has no use whatsoever.
GreenScreen Grandmas
End of the Year, hopefully next decade won't have any of this:
Happy New Year Everyone.
Congratulations to Mark and Leanne and the as yet unnamed Boy and Girl.
Love and kisses go out and we wish for a good recovery for all involved.
Pictures of Matchstick Men - Status Quo
31st Dec 2009 ·I'm glad they are being given something in the new years lists. As a young child I had Status Quo (OBEs) thrust upon me, and it really could have been much worse (as well as Abba).
A stable ground on which to build my fascination with music.
When I look up to the skies
I see your eyes a funny kind of yellow
I rush home to bed I soak my head
I see your face underneath my pillow
I wake next morning tired still yawning
See your face come peaking through my window
Pictures of matchstick men and you
Mirages of matchstick men and you
All I ever see is them and you

A Scary Fact.
Duke Nukem 3D's sequel has all but fallen fowl of a self combusting company.
it normally makes the vapourware list around this time of year, but not this year.
Wired has a excellent article about the sequel, but one thing that struck me as amazing in the article was "...As one patient fan pointed out, when development on Duke Nukem Forever started, most computers were still using Windows 95, Pixar had made only one movie Toy Story and Xbox did not yet exist."
Wow! - Photoshop Errors
Yes I know you have probably seen these but some of note in this that I missed the first time around.
Pay speciic attention to number 14 - Mariah's Giant Hand.

Might be of benefit for someone to help them out.
I really do not want to talk about it
21st Dec 2009 ·I did a bit of work for charity.
All was good fun, and I got a make a fool of myself.
It is for a good cause, Compton Hospice.
The Change
20th Dec 2009 ·Well it is near to the end of the year, and it is usually about this time of year I go over the opanoid.com site and think to myself 'what was I thinking' with certain aspects of what I coded (coded used very lightly in terms of php, css and html).
Anyhoo though I'd give the site an update, I never did like the previous layout, originally I thought it worked better with embedded videos being larger and being able to cope, but the site just looked messy.
This time it's a bit more structured (at least that's the idea).
Optimisation aside (much to do!) the site seems to work, so please be patient with any mess ups and let me know Email me.
The site is lighter on css but uses a few small graphics this time, in terms of overheads I think they are less, the database pull ins however are still processor intensive but I will be working on that.
In fact I have promised myself that I won't get the 'Recent Activity' working live until I have optimised the rest of the code.
Specific new sections are for the ScreenSavers and that will be changing somewhat so I can work on that separately.
Merry Christmas, or Happy break depending on your religious view to everyone.

DM Thursday List
17th Dec 2009 ·Now I have kids I watch lots of cartoons with them, some old ones like Tom and Jerry have recently been updated and are actually very good (ignoring the movie where they speak, just not good).
Others like Spongebob are genius and of course you have the Simpsons that capture the kids and also give me a giggle.
And then of course you can go back a bit and relive Dangermouse in all it's glory. Maybe with a bigger budget and more foresight they may have produced it for other countries with different initials on his chest.
Morgan Freeman Timeline.
Found Him - Apparently when this was posted on reddit.com someone put out a message that his father worked for a studio that wanted to high the kid for promotion work.
I know it's starting to get old, but this photo did make me laugh, mainly because if you look closely EVERYONE in the photo is laughing. Tiger's Expense
Not sure why, but this makes me happy
Ouch - Nice leg kick.
It Rubs The Lotion on It's Skin

Extended Version of Prince of Bel Air
It's just not right. (lyrics follow)
And the lyrics:
Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I liked to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air
In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'
I begged and pleaded with her day after day
But she packed my suite case and send me on my way
She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket.
I put my walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'.
First class, yo this is bad
Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass.
Is this what the people of Bel-Air Living like?
Hmmmmm this might be alright.
I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I can say this cab is rare
But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'
I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8
And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later'
I looked at my kingdom
I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

20th Aug 2010 ·Afternoon all, Jesus tees off first hitting his ball straight into the water hazard. He simply walks across the water and hits his ball just short of the green. When Moses tees off, he hits his ball into the same water hazard. So, he parts the water and puts his golf ball just shy of the hole. As the old man tees off he hits his ball with tremendous power, but hooks it badly. It bounces off a tree and hits the caddy shack. It then rolls down a path to a pond where a frog eats the ball and swims to the other side of the pond. Suddenly an eagle swoops down and grabs the frog and flies off. As the eagle is flying over the green the frog drops the ball. The ball drops directly into the hole for a hole in one. Moses turns to Jesus and says "I hate playing golf with your Dad."

Almost a quarter of drivers think it is acceptable to speed if they think the limit is too low - Tick that's me.
Drivers still distinguish between 'ordinary, safe speeding drivers' and 'dangerous speeding drivers' - Tick That's me too.
Motorists caught racing through motorway roadworks ended up being hit by more than £5m worth of speeding tickets last year. - Not been done on this, thankfully.
Of all the speeding offences 90+% are fixed penally notices. - Tick, got done by this.
Thought of the week.
Apple is very closed, they are right, everyone else is wrong (suppliers). However it was noted on a website that Apple have sent an update out for OS X that fixes graphics issues.
This is pretty much due in part to Valve releasing games for the Mac. It's further rumoured that the uptake of the games is astronomical.
Nothing Like a shit load of money to make Apple stand to attention.
