Bronze Thursday List

28th May 2009 · · Link

For those paying attention (and this doesn't include myself and wife as pretty much forgot about it) but:

Bronze is the eighth anniversary gift. Bronze gifts can be anything from a candleholder (four candles?) or vase to a trinket or memorable keepsake being bronzed, however more modern gifts are Linens or Lace

Talk to Claire people I'm sure she will have some Linen's or Lace ideas for you to get her :)

1. This had been bugging me for ages, it took me ages to track this down, in the end I typed in "what is the song from at the end of the tv advert that says technology". Isn't Google Great.

2. Anyone having a bad day will surely be cheared up with Flying Dogs.

3. Oh good god, what has happened to Tori Spelling - And this *after* a boom job.

4. And whilst their, is this actually Jody Marsh?!!! Looks like she would rip your head off.

5. Let's put Movie Quotes right shall we :)

6. I used to do this :)

Actually makes me glad to be older and not have to do it anymore :)

7. 6th Grade Sex Ed - I got a C.

8. Team Wiggly

9. Lenka - The Show, I love this song.

And as I'm feeling very muscial today here are some other songs that make me have happy ears.
Little Boots - New In Town | Gossip - Heavy Cross |

Well I'm off to pack for a relaxing Stag and Hen weekend. And after the month I've had it really is a welcome break. I'm shattered and very much looking forward to drinking responsibly and not have a hang over or making a fool of myself in front of my wife or friends.
Oh and not spending too much money.

Now where did I put the eyebrow shavers and giant inflatable cock.

Pox 2 Tuesday List

26th May 2009 · · Link

Ah the joys of Chicken Pox, just when one has got rid of it, the other decides he wants it (bang goes my theory that Chicken Pox doesn't pass to the elder children).

Hopefully he wont be to bad then we can concentrate of stopping the youngest whipping it out and peeing on things (like dogs, people, chairs).

Anyhoo:

1. 50 Text Acronyms that Parents need to know. I've a feeling I'll be speaking a totally different language to my kids in about 3 years time.

2. Aninated gif's, slow to load, pointless but sometimes amusing, The Eyebrow and Bruce Lee loves birthdays and Bowling and Face Meet Sand and

3. Finally some people who have given birth naturally and more importantly not making a media frenzy out of it (well within reason, it is a joyous occasion after all).

4. Morning you Muppet.

5. Piano Choir.

6. Paloma Faith - Stone Cold Sober

Well i'm off to try and stop my heart palpitations and get some work done.

Atychiphobia Friday List

Ah Friday, bringer of endings, starter of weekends, panic of heart scans, decisions of websites. It all happens on a Friday.

New Word Alert: Reslut: to have have once been a slut, left the world of sluttery, and then returned. A shiny new penny for anyone who can get the word reslut into conversation today :)

This looks totally different from the original, and I'd be well up for it, except that bird from Lost is in it, I'm not keen on her.

I'm not saying anything, I'll just leave it up to you to decide.

Very geeky and most probably won't appreciate this, I laughed :)
These are comments found in code that certain people on stackoverflow.com came across. The first one just cracks me up.

long john; // silver

Well looks like Ghostbusters 3 is going ahead, woo bleedin' hoo.

La Roux - Bulletproof - I like the first song, this is catchy (and fast, like fast words), and boy does she look odd. Why the hell at one point they decided to put an affect on her voice I don't know but that aside it's a good side. And I bet you will already have heard this and not realised it.

Oh and I like the wall effect in the video, I feel another screen saver coming on :)

Anyway i'm off to cure my Ithyphallophobia. (whatever you do, DO NOT go to this page Phobia List, it could potentially waste too much of your time).

Paradoxical Undressing List

19th May 2009 · · Link

Ok then this fascinated me, but Paradoxical Undressing is caused by Hypothermia and is quite odd indeed.

Anyone who watched the season finale of Lost may want to get to grips with Paradoxes. I think you'll need it.

In fact paradoxes are fascinating, so let's have a few more.
Birthday Paradox, Paradox of Entailment, Raven Paradox.

I did have lots of these, but frankly I just couldn't continue after this one.
Drinker's Paradox
".....there is someone in the pub such that, if he is drinking, then everyone in the pub is drinking....". - Noodles the brain.

More normal stuff now, and to start with a few PhotoBombers, I just love these.

We all know that Klingons are tough, and we know they don't suffer from sniffles or man flu (they do get chicken pox though I believe). So why in the hell does This exist. Someone has far too much time!

A few more Typo's as the last typo's I posted seemed to be popular.

WolframAlpha has amazing potential, as yet it's not all that great but it will get their.

Play Dead:

If I sat down and found this I'd go and get a sledge hammer.

And to finish:
Friendly Fires - Jump in the pool

UK Let Me Out Day Friday List

15th May 2009 · · Link

Today is the UK's Let Me Out Day*, as in cars and out of junctions.
I must admit this morning I found it took me twice as long to get into work as every bugger in from of me was letting someone out. I did my part though and let a lorry out :)

Very video orientated this week:

This is nicely done I thought:

Worth a look if your a Tarantino Fan. The Tarantino Film Mix

I do this (much to the annoyance of my wife, kids and anyone around me) but even I am no match for Beat Box Girl.
See more funny videos and funny pictures at CollegeHumor.

Now this fascinated me, but it is geeky, it's all about Pac Man how the game works, how the ghosts move around, how to play it, tiles - well just everything and I read the lot the other night when I should have been in bed.

These images are very good, then you realise they are Vector/Vexel Art. That makes them very very very good and 1 month each to create one.

Bit sick but what the hell, Helen Keller.

I have 3 books on the go at the moment 'Game Over' (thanks Lee & Hannah, it's very good reading) iWoz (not even started that) and a book of Bill Hick's letters/scripts and show appearances (of which I've read the first chapter and laughed my ass off).

I even went as far as googling a book I noticed Leonard reading on 'The Big Bang Theory' the other night (geeeeeek). Anyhoo always on the look out for good books i came across this 10 Most Disturbing Books of all time.
No. 8 I think I'll seek out the movie, and Number 8 and 5 I've already seen as a movie.
Not going to read No.7 (as I have kids and it'll scare me), No. 4 description makes me shudder and No. 3 is just a no no (anyone else find reading about sex a bit odd?). No. 2 I might read and No. 1 is well, just sick. Probably read that too.

Finally a few things for the fella's. How to Scratch your balls during a Monday Meeting and USPDF 2009 Championship.

* Actually I made this up.

Chicken List Tuesday

12th May 2009 · · Link

  1. Right then, read this:

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee

Bet you emphased that last sentance, even if it was in your head.

  2. AaaaaaaaarrrrrR2D2.

  3. As always typos are not the fault of designers, most of them are ileterate anyway, no typos are the faults of the proof readers exist, that's my excuse. - Typos.

  4. I want a go.

  5. Wow, Flares. This puts them in perspective.

  6. This is very nicely done

  7. Oh joy of joys my old friend has decided to pay the household a visit: Chicken Pox.

  8. I like it anyway, I'm sure i've posted this before but I'm a bit out of sorts today so here it is again!

Crying Friday list

8th May 2009 · · Link

Our 3 year old is being a bit of a pain of late (seems to be carrying the terrible two's on a bit). And last night being a normal session nothing we could do would stop him crying.
Cried because he didn't want his food, cried because he wanted to go outside, cried because he wanted to sleep in the hall (!). This just carries on and on and on, so we have learned that when he is like that and too tired it's just best to leave him alone as he will eventually calm down and fall asleep.
He's crying and jiggling around and I suspect he needs the toilet.
All of sudden he stops crying and as I walk into the Kitchen my wife says "What's happened it's gone all quiet?".
"Yes" say I "He's gone to the toilet, and men can't cry whilst going to the toilet.".
"Really?" came the reply. My wifes insane.

Ah list time, 1 bonus point if your know the language of the numbers (without looking it up your cheats).

odin - The Best Adverts Ever. This makes me want to push our Advertising side of the business more as these are just so cool. Then I realise what a sick and twisted world advertising is. Hey ho.

dva - Well well well.

tri - We have all probably seen the Honda advert on the tv, well this is how it's done properly on the internet.

chetyri - Plot Summaries to Movies.

pyat' - I went to a Search Engine Optimisation seminar/class/tutorial the other day, and although some aspects I was familiar with I did actually learn a few techniques to increase listings (some I still considered to be dodgy and won't try). It explained Google's PageRank and things like that. So I checked on opanoid.com's page rank and what do you know I have a PageRank of 5/10. Not too shabby :) In comparison digg.com is 8/10 b3ta.com is 6/10. wired.com 9/10

shest' - Tried out Windows 7 yesterday (well I hacked a laptop to get access to the BIOS password then installed Windows 7, long story!) and I was a bit disappointed in terms of the looks of it, I was expecting something fabulous daaaarling, but it's just vista. It does seem more robust though. I'll explore more over the next few days no doubt.

sem' - Lots of Sci-Fi movies around at the moment, some terrible, some just bad, this one definately is up my street though, Moon (just found out about this movie that I have never seen but was recommend, Primer)

vosem - Wierdest Video I have seen in a long long time:

devyat' - Now this is how it was back in the day. If you ever wonder where most of the samples of words and phrases come from in a lot of the music just listen to this. As you hear it Pump up the volume.

Extended Version of Prince of Bel Air
It's just not right. (lyrics follow)

And the lyrics:
Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I liked to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'

I begged and pleaded with her day after day
But she packed my suite case and send me on my way
She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket.
I put my walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'.

First class, yo this is bad
Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass.
Is this what the people of Bel-Air Living like?
Hmmmmm this might be alright.
I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I can say this cab is rare
But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'

I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8
And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later'
I looked at my kingdom
I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

Afternoon all, Jesus tees off first hitting his ball straight into the water hazard. He simply walks across the water and hits his ball just short of the green. When Moses tees off, he hits his ball into the same water hazard. So, he parts the water and puts his golf ball just shy of the hole. As the old man tees off he hits his ball with tremendous power, but hooks it badly. It bounces off a tree and hits the caddy shack. It then rolls down a path to a pond where a frog eats the ball and swims to the other side of the pond. Suddenly an eagle swoops down and grabs the frog and flies off. As the eagle is flying over the green the frog drops the ball. The ball drops directly into the hole for a hole in one. Moses turns to Jesus and says "I hate playing golf with your Dad."

Drivers still distinguish between 'ordinary, safe speeding drivers' and 'dangerous speeding drivers' - Tick That's me too.
Motorists caught racing through motorway roadworks ended up being hit by more than £5m worth of speeding tickets last year. - Not been done on this, thankfully.
Of all the speeding offences 90+% are fixed penally notices. - Tick, got done by this.

Thought of the week.
Apple is very closed, they are right, everyone else is wrong (suppliers). However it was noted on a website that Apple have sent an update out for OS X that fixes graphics issues.
This is pretty much due in part to Valve releasing games for the Mac. It's further rumoured that the uptake of the games is astronomical.
Nothing Like a shit load of money to make Apple stand to attention.
